Kurzfassung Defense of thesis that addresses capacity planning for message-oriented middleware in fog environments, where resource provisioning must be decided at design time due to the lack of autoscaling. More precisely, the work focuses on the messaging protocol MQTT and JoramMQ as the system under test. Its main contribution is a data-creation and model-training pipeline that maps workload and resource configurations to performance outcomes. It allows to run automated experiments, which map input parameters like message sizes and sender throughputs to target variables like the system CPU utilisation. Based on the generated datasets, two model families are developed and compared: an additive white-box model and black-box machine-learning models (Random Forest and Support Vector Regression). The additive model provides parameter-level interpretability and explains dominant effects, while the machine-learning models capture interactions between parameters and enable implicit training. The core strengths of the presented approach is its reproducibility, reusability and extensibility
